Nov. 19 Albertus Magnus Lecture - Deep Incarnation: Prepare for Astonishment

   Albertus Magnus Lecture

Deep Incarnation: Prepare for Astonishment

Thursday, Nov. 19

7:00 p.m.

Priory Campus Auditorium

Admission is $10

DU students, faculty and staff admitted free

Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ, Distinguished Professor of Theology, Fordham University, will deliver the Siena Center’s annual lecture on the intersection of science and religion.  Among the four ways theology can interact with science (conflict, contrast, contact, and confirmation--John Haught), this lecture works with the third option, which looks for ways in which scientific insight can shape theological understanding.  Jesus Christ anchors Christian faith. How might knowledge of cosmic and biological evolution shed light on the wisdom that holds he is the incarnate Word of God? Tracing the narrative of his life, death, and resurrection, this lecture explores how the dialogue of faith with science opens Christology up to unsuspected depths.  Johnson’s most recent book is Quest for the Living God.

Parking Alert

Parking Alert on Nov. 10

Dear Dominican University Campus Community,

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Dominican University will welcome the Pathways Awareness organization to our campus.  To accommodate this group’s increased needs for accessible parking, we will be reserving spaces for them throughout the day/evening.

The group will be previewing the film “The Miracle” and discussing the issues of access and inclusion in worship.  Participants in this private event will be sharing what their churches are doing to welcome parishioners of all abilities into full participation.

The Pathways Awareness event will be held in Springer Suite, in part because of the accessible library ramp and facilities.  The parking spaces reserved for Pathways Awareness will include both student and faculty-staff parking spaces nearest the library ramp.

Due to parking concerns on campus, it’s important that you know whenever parking availability will be impacted.  With spaces being reserved throughout the day on Nov. 10, please plan accordingly – perhaps arriving early throughout the day – if the parking reserved for Pathways Awareness causes you any inconvenience.

We want to thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding of our desire to meet the accessibility needs of our Pathways Awareness guests.  We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause that day.
