Computer Facilities

Dominican has several computer classrooms and laboratories. Computers are primarily the latest Pentium processors and are networked for Internet access. There are also Mac computers to support the graphics programs. Several operating systems are available on campus. All students have access to the Internet and email accounts. The student residence halls are also networked. Most computer courses are offered in a computer classroom and include an applied hands-on component.
The labs and classrooms feature a variety of software including Microsoft Office, statistical software and several case and Web development tools and programming language environments. With offices located in proximity to the primary computer laboratory, the computer science faculty members are readily available to answer questions and offer suggestions.

Internship Program

The internship program at Dominican has successfully placed students in a number of organizations. Students apply concepts learned in the classroom to the real-world setting working for professionals in a variety of organizations. In many cases, the internship experience also permits students to earn a stipend while gaining experience in the field and earning university credit. When internship opportunities arise, companies look to Dominican to find students to fill these positions because they have been so well satisfied with their performance in the past.

Recent internship companies for Dominican University students include:

Club members offer tutoring to students. Members are also encouraged to participate in the activities of the Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area (ACCA).
