Economics majors at Dominican acquire the perspective, tools and skills to excel in the rapidly changing business environment of today and the future. They learn “it depends” is the answer to complex issues. They develop the ability to sort through and weigh the many factors in complex issues to reach a balanced conclusion.

Dominican students receive the personal attention and develop the academic qualifications and alumnae/i relationships essential for success in a competitive work environment. An investment in a Dominican education prepares you to seize opportunities and shape your future.

The economics major at Dominican University emphasizes economic principles and the application of the principles to decisions -- personal, corporate and government policy -- that drive the economy and society. Students learn how to think through the benefits, costs, and the tradeoffs involved when deciding. They apply the principles to a wide variety of everyday issues ranging from the minimum wage to the regulation of monopoly, from how much saving is enough to the balance of payment deficit, from money supply growth to the role of government in an economy. Economics majors may elect to earn the Bachelor of Science degree or the Bachelor of Arts degree. Each degree has different requirements.
