According to the Dominican University Assessment Plan (.pdf), all academic programs as well as non-academic offices and student support areas, are responsible for creating an assessment plan with a mission, goals, and measurable outcomes. Further, all programs and offices are responsible for conducting assessment activities and submitting an annual summary of assessment activities.
Overseeing University assessment efforts is the Dominican University Assessment Committee. The Assessment Committee is a University-wide committee that is chaired by the Provost. It is charged by the Academic Council of Dominican University with the following responsibilities:
To monitor all continuing assessment activities of the University.
To design, implement, and continually refine the University Assessment Plan.To review the assessment plans of each operating unit of the University.To investigate and suggest adoption of new assessment methods.To ensure that assessment timetables are met.
The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment assists University assessment efforts by coordinating the collection and review of assessment materials and by offering technical assistance in the design and development of assessment plans.
