Honor Societies and JournalHistory majors may join Phi Alpha Theta, the national honor society for history. Students may also join Pi Gamma Mu, the national social science honor society. Pi Gamma Mu recognizes scholarships in one or more of the following fields: economics, history, political science, psychology and sociology. Students may contribute to Dominican University’s Journal of History and Social Sciences, a publication which offers all students in history and social science the opportunity to share their original research in print. Internship ProgramThe internship program at Dominican University has successfully placed students in a number of organizations. Students apply concepts learned in the classroom to a real-world setting by working with professionals in a variety of organizations. In some cases, the internship experience also permits students to earn a stipend while gaining experience in the field and earning university credit. Dominican University students majoring in American studies, history and social science have pursued internships at sites such as the National Archives in Washington, DC, the Catigny Museum of Military History and historical societies. |
