Special ProgramsInternship ProgramThe internship program at Dominican has successfully placed students in a number of organizations. Students apply concepts learned in the classroom to the real-world setting working for professionals in a variety of organizations. In most cases, the internship experience also permits students to earn a stipend while gaining experience in the field and earning university credit. When internship opportunities arise, companies look to Dominican to find students to fill these positions because they have been so well satisfied with their performance in the past. The Computer Science ClubThe Computer Science Club conducts field trips to visit computer sites several times a year and invites experts to speak on computer-related topics. Members are encouraged to join the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), one of the most prestigious organizations in the computer science field. Club members offer tutoring to students. Members are also encouraged to participate in the activities of the Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area (ACCA). Students are also encouraged to participate in regional computer conferences. Programming ContestsComputer science majors represent Dominican University at various programming contests both locally and regionally. Dominican University students have won a number of trophies in programming contests in the last few years. Five-Year BA/MBAQualified students may begin taking graduatelevel classes in the Brennan School of Business as undergraduate students, thus reducing the time required to complete an MBA degree. |
