Special Programs

English Club

All English majors and minors, as well as other students who love to read and write, can join the English Club, a student organization that sponsors a variety of events and activities, including readings, theater outings, movie nights and fund-raising activities.

Internships

The internship program at Dominican has successfully placed students in a number of businesses and organizations. Students apply concepts learned in the classroom to real workplaces in a variety of settings. In some cases, the internship experience also permits students to earn a stipend while gaining experience in the field and earning university credit.

Honors Society

English majors and minors who meet the academic requirements are invited to join Dominican's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society.

Membership in Sigma Tau Delta, which is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, provides opportunities for those interested in English and literature to join with like-minded people on the local, regional and international levels. Members receive the newsletter while they remain active in their local chapters. They also receive and are able to contribute to The Rectangle, the society's award-winning literary publication. Student members are eligible to compete for a number of prizes for excellent writing and a variety of scholarships and awards.
