Special ProgramsInternshipsFor juniors and seniors, completing a business internship is an important means of learning more about specific fields of interest, gaining practical experience in a future career, and accumulating up to eight hours of college credit. The internship program at Dominican University employs a full-time internship director who advises students and connects them with employers. In many instances, the internship experience also permits students to earn a stipend. Dominican University can play an important role in advancing your career. A connection formed through your enrollment at Dominican may prove to be a critical link to your future success. Five-Year BA/MBAQualified Dominican University students may be able to complete the bachelor’s degree and the MBA in a total of five calendar years. During their undergraduate years, business majors complete the equivalent of the MBA foundation courses. In the senior year, two MBA course are taken, one each semester, and credited to the undergraduate degree. The remaining eight MBA courses can be taken in the summer, fall and spring semesters of the following year. Study Abroad ProgramsBecause global markets have become increasingly interdependent, both politically and economically, students studying business administration, accounting, economics or international business are encouraged to participate in one of Dominican University’s study abroad programs. These programs are offered in England, France, Italy and Spain. The university assists students seeking study abroad experiences in other countries also. Study abroad provides the unique opportunity to live and study in a foreign culture. Students develop a global awareness that is valuable in today’s global economy. Students who desire a career in international business are encouraged to minor in one of the foreign languages offered at Dominican University: French, Italian and Spanish. Business Honor SocietyDominican University hosts the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Sigma Iota Epsilon (SIE), the national honor society of the Academy of Management. Formed in 1993, Epsilon Nu is among the nation’s most active SIE chapters and was selected as the National Chapter of the Year in both 1997 and 1999. Epsilon Nu has been awarded grants by the national chapter and SIE members have won numerous scholarships based on their academic achievements. Membership in SIE is extended to students who have exhibited outstanding academic achievements and maintain a superior grade point average in their studies. |
