Special ProgramsTheology and Another MajorAn attractive option for students is a double major. The curriculum design in Rosary College of Arts and Sciences enables students to combine their major in theology with other majors, many of which provide the basis for teacher certification. A minor in theology is another way to strengthen and enrich study in other fields. Religious Diversity in the Chicago AreaDominican University is situated in one of the most religiously and theologically diverse metropolitan areas in the world. Through site visits and other learning opportunities, students can learn gain first-hand knowledge of this vastly rich and varied world of faith. Service LearningStudents in theology are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences service-learning program. Through reflection papers, a journal or other appropriate means, students relate their service experience to classroom learning. Three-unit service-learning courses are designated in the course schedule by “includes off-campus service hours.” An additional service-learning credit hour may also be added to any course in theology through an agreement between the student, professor and the service learning center. Religion and CultureThis popular course culminates in a two-week trip to Montana that introduces students to the riches of Native-American religion and culture. |
