Blackboard is a web-based learning tool that
many instructors are utilizing to post assignments, documents, and other
course-related material. Whether at home or on-campus, as long as you have access to the Web,
you have access to Blackboard. Check with your instructor for how
to access your Blackboard course.
If your instructor has a
Dominican Blackboard site up and you already know how to use Blackboard,
you may access our Blackboard site here.
If you are having difficulty creating an account and "enrolling" in a Blackboard course site at Dominican, take a look at
our viewlet demonstrating how to create an account. (This viewlet will open in a separate window.)
Note: This viewlet requires the free Flash player, which can be downloaded from the Macromedia Flash Player site.
(All Dominican University computer laboratories have this player installed.)
If you are having difficulty getting Blackboard to display properly in your web browser, or if all of the features in Blackboard are not working properly, consult our Blackboard Browser Issues page.
Not receiving emails, even though your instructor said one was sent out using Blackboard? consult our Blackboard Email Issues page.
For more detailed documentation, you should download the Student Guide, below:
Using
Blackboard at Dominican University: Be patient; this takes time to view even from on campus. For best results, download onto a disk first before viewing in Adobe Acrobat. To do this right-click over the hyperlink above, then left-click Save Target As . . . from the following menu. Also, the screen shots in the document are much clearer looking after printed out on a laser printer than they are when viewed directly within the Acrobat Reader. |
*If you do not already have the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in for your Web browser, you can download it free of charge from the Adobe Web site by following the link for Free Plug-Ins and Updates.
