Course Details:
The main objective of this course is to increase the student’s ability to use personal computer software as a tool for applied coursework and in business. The course covers advanced topics using spreadsheets, statistical packages, and business application software. It emphasizes a hands-on approach and encourages the student to experiment. Class meetings will be a mix of lecture, discussion, and hands-on computer work. Assignments will make use of “mini-cases” to apply software tools to business problems. A group presentation may be assigned time permitting.
Pre-requisites: Math 120, CIS 120 or equivalent
Class Times: M 6:30-9:30pm
Textbook: No textbook is required.

Attendance: This is a “hands-on” course in which you learn and practice skills in class time. You are responsible for all material covered in class. If for some reason you cannot attend, you must contact me. Your attendance will also count towards class participation.
Grading: Exams: 40%
Assignments: 50%
Class Participation: 10%
Exams will be announced at least one week in advance.
Assignments are due by the start of class time on the due date.
All assignments must be submitted as print copy in person.
Late Penalties: 25% penalty if one class late. No credit if more than one class late.
These penalties do not apply if you have a genuine excuse and have contacted me before the due date.
All assignments must be done individually, unless it is a group assignment. Turning in another
person’s work as your own is not permitted; all those involved in copying are at risk of receiving a
zero on the assignment or exam, or getting an F for the entire course.
