These pages were prepared for LS 737 "Online Information Systems," a course initiated and taught by Dr. Gertrude Koh at the Dominican University Graduate School of Library and Information Science. The purpose of this session is to introduce participants to the Internet and the WWW. My goal is to help participants begin to develop knowledge about how the Internet has and will continue to impact libraries of all types, especially Technical Services Departments, and to form ideas about the roles that libraries and librarians will play in the evolution of the global computer network currently known as the Internet.

    Doing the 'Net

Understanding that the Internet affects us is one thing. Making sure that we have the tiger by the tail, and that the tiger doesn't have us, is another. How can we as individuals, librarians, and technical service librarians use the Internet effectively to enhance our lives, our jobs, and our services?
