I am currently in my fourth semester as a gradute student at Dominican University working towards my Master's degree in Library and Information Science.
| Philosophy of Teaching |
| I believe students should be taught the skills they need to fully function as independant members of society. As an elementary school librarian, I will teach students how to use both school and public libraries so that they may independently find and use information. I will also teach them how to use technology to find information, create content and communicate. The future revolves around technology and I will give my students the tools they need to successfully navigate their future. |
I am currently a teacher/librarian in a K-8 elementary school. I teach at F.W. Reilly Elementary school in Chicago.
Reilly has three
buildings and has an enrollement of 1500 students. I looked up F.W. Reilly Elementary school on
Wikipedia and found out that
Reilly was the first Chicago Public School to have solar electric (photovoltaic) panels
installed on its roof. This system helps deliver
electricity to the school. Read about it on

I fell into librarianship when my school was in need of a librarian last year and I accepted the job.
I have always enjoyed reading
and teaching kids to develop their reading skills and a love for reading.
I have no desire to work in a Public Library because I enjoy
teaching so much. I might try a High School Library sometime in the future, but for right now I enjoy being in the Elementary School
